I attempt to bridge a gap in communication between myself and older generations within my family. My work is coded so I am the only one who can read it fluently. I tell the story of my struggle with self-identity, race, cultural difference, and religion, through the use of family members as language. By reaching into family history, I become a modern embodiment of my father, mother, grandparents and great-grandparents. By connecting myself to family photos and letters I ask if I am representative of their lives, or if I am a reflection of my own.
